The Sumter County Detention Center was recently audited for compliance with the Federal Prison Rape Elimination Act of 2003. An auditor representing the Department of Justice reviewed all practices and policies for the Detention Center to ensure compliance and found the Detention Center met all of the required standards as well as exceeding three of the mandatory 42 standards. The Detention Center was initially certified as complying with all of the Prison Rape elimination act standards in 2016 and initially was one of only sixteen county jails in the state of Florida to achieve this.

Congratulations to all of the Detention Center Staff.
