Fire escape plans can be more challenging for some people such as those who use wheelchairs, are blind or even have autism.
It is common for children with autism to have a set routine, and want to know exactly what is happening. Practice your escape plan with them regularly so they are not scared and know exactly what to do when the smoke alarm goes off. They need to have a special meeting place far enough away from the house to be safe.
Please do not hesitate to call us if you need help making a plan or practicing. Knowing the needs of our community drastically helps us do our job in case of emergencies.
