Sumter County issued the following announcement on Aug. 27.
The milling and resurfacing will begin at the north side of the C 44A and Powell Road Intersection and continue to the southern approach of the C 466A and Powell Road Intersection. The project will include installing a directional median opening and a concrete driveway separator at the Sumter County Service Center driveway. The total cost of the project is $452,208.
The work will commence the week of Monday, August 30, 2021, and is expected to end before the last week of September 2021. Given the construction location, lane closures will occur at night between the hours of 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM.
Please use caution when traveling Powell Road during the construction progress. Partial lane closures are to be expected, and heavy machinery will be working near the travel lanes. Please travel at the posted construction speed limit for your safety and our road workers.
