City of Center Hill issued the following announcement on Jan. 29.
Sumter County successfully completed the C-462 Safety Improvement Curve Project. The previous curve geometry consisted of a 20.5-foot wide roadway, no shoulders, inadequate roadside ditches, and a substandard super elevation cross-slope. The intersection with CR 223 in the curve was also a major concern. With assistance from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Sumter County improved the safety of this curve for the residents and visitors in Sumter County.
The improvements to the curve include two 12-foot travel lanes, eight-foot shoulders, improved roadside ditches, new roadway signs and markings, and an improved cross-slope.
