Big Congratulations to Tyler Jackson, shown here between Wildwood Police Chief Randy Parmer and Steve Munz, owner of Galaxy Home Solutions, as he was recognized during last night’s City Commission meeting.  Tyler was selected as the recipient of the Anthony Johnson Memorial Police Scholarship.

This scholarship honors Wildwood Officer AJ Johnson, who tragically passed away in December of 2021, and was made possible due to a generous donation by Mr. Munz.

Tyler was selected from a pool of more than 50 applicants.  He will be attending the Police Academy in mid-October and upon completion, will begin his journey with the Wildwood Police Department as a patrol officer.

Congratulations also to Wildwood Police Sergeant David Perry, whose promotion to Special Operations Sergeant also was recognized at last night’s City Commission meeting.

His duties will be supervising the Community Affairs Unit, Traffic Unit, and the COPs Volunteer Program.  In addition, he will also assist with the recruiting and processing of new applicants.

David has been with the Wildwood Police Department for four years; prior to that he was with the Cedar Key Police Department for 13 years.

Thank you, Chief Parmer, Sergeant Perry, Tyler, and the whole Wildwood Police Department for your work and service to our entire community.
